Today I have two fabulous new fashion books to tell you about. The first is
Fierce Style: How to Be Your Most Fabulous Self by Christian Siriano, winner of Project Runway. In Fierce Style, Christian helps you discover how to look, feel, and act fierce in everyday life. With tips from some of fashion and Hollywood's biggest names -including Victoria Beckham, Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia, and Vanessa Williams -- along with gorgeous original sketches by Christian, never-before-heard stories, and behind-the-scenes photos, he tells his journey of developing his own fashion sense and overcoming obstacles to success. In addition to giving advice on creating personal style, sharing tips on building self-confidence, and revealing his own list of fashion dos and don'ts, Christian also shows how to use one's unique strengths to get ahead - and go from tickity-tack to totally flawless.

The second book, and my personal favorite, is
Mrs. O: The Face of Fashion Democracy by Mary Tomer. Celebrated for her style and substance, Michelle Obama has transformed the role of first lady and become a 21st century icon, attracting attention from all over the world. The qualities so admired in her - intelligence, strength and charisma - radiate through her personal style, which has united accessibility with high-wattage glamour. The clothes, like the woman, feel both familiar and inspirational. Readily mixing high-end labels with more affordable brands, with a focus on craftsmanship and artistry, Mrs. O has elevated the notion of real value and ushered in a new era of "fashion democracy".
Opening with a brief overview of Michelle Obama's early years, the book goes on to provide rarely seen photos from behind-the-scenes on the presidential primary trail through the 2008 Democratic National Convention, the monumental events of election night, the inauguration and early chapters of life in the White House. The final chapter hears the opinions of Mrs. O's adoring fans - giving the last word to the people.
Both books can definitely be classified as "fun reads". The text is not just information, but intriguing and entertaining. Christian's book is full of insight and helpful tips that you can really put to use to find your unique style.
I absolutely love the photography in Mrs. O. Even if you don't have time to sit down and read the book cover-to-cover, you can definitely spend a good hour just looking at the gorgeous pictures of not just Michelle, but the entire Obama family.
